Singapore Airlines Meets Aviation Students

February 14, 2024, Istanbul – Singapore Airlines took pride in hosting students from Eskişehir Technical University for a comprehensive day offering a glimpse behind the scenes of the aviation industry. Students had a unique opportunity to witness every stage of Singapore Airlines operations, from the arrival of the aircraft at the airport to baggage handling, check-in procedures, boarding process, and a special tour of the A350-900 aircraft.

The day began with students observing the arrival of the Singapore Airlines aircraft. They then witnessed the entire process from when the baggage was unloaded from the plane until it was placed on the baggage belt. Following this, they received detailed briefings from airport personnel about the meticulous coordination required for smooth airport operations.

Students learned about the check-in procedures and gained insights into the intricacies of passenger services, witnessing firsthand Singapore Airlines’ renowned, dedicated, and efficient work. Before passenger boarding began, they explored the state-of-the-art A350-900 aircraft, examining the features of the latest technology that defines Singapore Airlines’ commitment to passenger comfort and technological innovation.

As a special gesture for Valentine’s Day, a pleasant surprise was shared with passengers at the check-in counters, where heart-shaped red chocolates were distributed. This thoughtful touch added an extra warmth and love to the day, creating an unforgettable experience for passengers. Everyone, from aviation enthusiasts to seasoned travelers, appreciated this sincere gesture, further strengthening the spirit of friendship and goodwill demonstrated by Singapore Airlines.

One of the highlights of the day was the distribution of certificates to students, recognizing their active participation and commitment to the aviation experience organized by Singapore Airlines. This not only symbolized their involvement but also served as a testament to Singapore Airlines’ commitment to contributing to the education of young talents interested in the aviation industry.

Mehmet Kali

Hello everyone. My name is Mehmet Kali. In the industry, I am known as "Kali". I graduated from the first civil aviation training school in Turkey, which was known as the Civil Aviation School at the time and is now Eskişehir Technical University, in 1991. As I graduated from the Business Administration department, it was a bit challenging for me to integrate into the industry. I have worked for companies such as SultanAir, DHMI, Havaş, and Swissair, and currently, I provide services and consultancy in air cargo transportation. I have experience in dispatching, air traffic control, passenger services, and aircraft coordination. During my time at Swissair, I had the opportunity to experience aviation training in many countries. Since 2012, I have been focusing on air cargo transportation. For three years, I taught courses on air cargo at Nişantaşı University. I still hold valid IATA certifications related to both passenger and cargo operations. For over ten years, I have been managing aeroportist.com, a news website related to aviation, which initially started as a hobby. I enjoy building aviation networks and sharing knowledge. If there is anything I can contribute to, I am here. Best regards "kali"
