Turkish Airlines Cargo moves to the e-AWB process mandatory

Turkish Airlines Cargo has announced that it has made significant progress in the e-AWB (Electronic Air Waybill) process and has increased the quality of messages and the usage ratio of e-AWB. The e-AWB process plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operational processes and meeting customs requirements.

With the recent implementation and upcoming enforcement of PLACI processes (such as ACAS, ICS2, PREDICT, PACT, NAIC), it has become essential to transmit the requested information to the authorities seamlessly through cargo messages. Additionally, the varying customs requirements of different countries further emphasize the importance of digitalization and the transmission of cargo messages.

In line with IATA’s aim to achieve 100% e-AWB usage in the air cargo industry by the end of 2022, Turkish Cargo has decided to make the e-AWB process mandatory starting from July 1, 2023.

It is important to note that customers who do not have a system to transmit e-AWB data can utilize the Turkish Airlines Cargo Portal for data transfer.

Turkish Airlines Cargo moves to 100% e-AWB

Dear Business Partners,

As Turkish Cargo, we have performed a significant progress in the e-AWB process together, our valued customers, and increased the message quality and e-AWB usage ratio.

e-AWB process has a key role and importance to run a smooth operational process and meeting customs requirements.

Especially after the PLACI processes (ACAS, ICS2, PREDICT, PACT, NAIC etc.) that have come into force recently and will come into force in the future, the information requested by the authorities must be transmitted through cargo messages without any problems. In addition, the fact that the customs of other countries may have different requests increases the importance of digitalization and the transmission of cargo messages day by day.

In the announcement made by IATA in 2020 regarding e-AWB, it was aimed to make 100% e-AWB in the air cargo industry by the end of 2022 and industry stakeholders were encouraged in line with this target.

In order to achieve this goal, we as Turkish Cargo, will make the e-AWB process mandatory as of 01.07.2023.

Important Note: Customers who do not have a system to transmit e-AWB data can transfer data through the Turkish Airlines Cargo Portal.

Mehmet Kali

Hello everyone. My name is Mehmet Kali. In the industry, I am known as "Kali". I graduated from the first civil aviation training school in Turkey, which was known as the Civil Aviation School at the time and is now Eskişehir Technical University, in 1991. As I graduated from the Business Administration department, it was a bit challenging for me to integrate into the industry. I have worked for companies such as SultanAir, DHMI, Havaş, and Swissair, and currently, I provide services and consultancy in air cargo transportation. I have experience in dispatching, air traffic control, passenger services, and aircraft coordination. During my time at Swissair, I had the opportunity to experience aviation training in many countries. Since 2012, I have been focusing on air cargo transportation. For three years, I taught courses on air cargo at Nişantaşı University. I still hold valid IATA certifications related to both passenger and cargo operations. For over ten years, I have been managing aeroportist.com, a news website related to aviation, which initially started as a hobby. I enjoy building aviation networks and sharing knowledge. If there is anything I can contribute to, I am here. Best regards "kali"
