Turkish Airlines brought Steven Gerrard and Cafu together in its new commercial.

 

Turkish Airlines, the first airline to become the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, brings together two living legends of football, Steven Gerrard and Cafu, on a pleasant Istanbul journey before the UEFA Champions League Final, which will be hosted in Istanbul for the second time.

 

The duo met again in Istanbul 18 years after the unforgettable final in 2005, this time together to discover the beauties of the city. After winning the football fans’ hearts with their legendary games in the final match 18 years ago, this time they will be remembered with the places they visited in Istanbul.

Gerrard and Cafu show football fans the lively and dynamic atmosphere of Istanbul, the meeting point of continents, and emphasize that they will find much more than a final here. The legendary duo of football invites fans who come to the city for the final match to explore this unique city from every corner.

 

With the commercial titled “Road to Istanbul”, Turkish Airlines, the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, tells about the unifying power, energy and mission of football that unites differences, through Istanbul’s mission of bringing the worlds together at a single point. Sharif Abdel Mawla, a Dutch-born Moroccan, is in the director’s chair. The film, which took five days to shoot, is planned to be broadcast simultaneously in more than 35 countries.

 

Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated: “Our UEFA Champions League sponsorship is one of the most significant collaborations of Turkish sports history, and we are glad to present this film, in which we combine different beauties of Istanbul with football, for the passionate fans and travel lovers from all around the world. As the global airline connecting more countries than any other, we believe in the unifying power of sports that brings different cultures together and we are excited to bring millions of football fans to Istanbul, on the 100th anniversary of The Republic of Türkiye.”
