Turkish Airlines to Unveil 10-Year Growth Strategy and Fleet Development Plans on Thursday
The Chairman of Turkish Airlines, Ahmet Bolat, recently conducted an interview with Simple Flying, a prominent global media outlet in the aviation industry. In the interview, which was published today, Bolat discussed the airline’s fleet management strategy, drawing on his 18 years of professional experience in the field.
Turkish Airlines currently has a fleet of 412 aircraft, consisting of 278 narrow-body, 111 wide-body, and 23 cargo planes, making it the 9th largest airline in the world by fleet size. As part of its growth strategy, the airline plans to strengthen its main brand fleet with 12 additional wide-body aircraft, including 7 787-9s, 4 A350-9s, 1 A330-200, and 3 A321neos, by the end of this year.
In addition to its main brand, Turkish Airlines’ AnadoluJet brand has also been expanding with new generation aircraft for its international flights. By the end of the year, the airline plans to add 8 new narrow-body aircraft to the AnadoluJet fleet, bringing the total number of aircraft to over 80. The new A321neos will be converted to a high-density configuration, which will further reduce unit costs and increase competitiveness.
Turkish Airlines currently has orders for a total of 82 new-generation aircraft, consisting of 49 narrow-body and 33 wide-body planes, which are expected to be delivered by 2028. However, Bolat emphasized that the airline’s growth ambitions are not limited to these orders, as they have identified further opportunities to expand their fleet in line with their vision and strategies.
This Thursday, the airline will unveil its 10-year strategy and 2033 goals, with a focus on fleet structure and human resources. Bolat revealed that Turkish Airlines plans to double its size as an airline while tripling its contribution to the economy, forming a THY ecosystem.
