The increasing passenger demand at Istanbul Airport
Despite the negative impact of the earthquake disaster we experienced in February and Ramadan starting in March on passenger numbers, Istanbul Airport has made a strong start to 2023, according to the CEO of the airport, Kadri Samsunlu. Thanks to the continuing strong demand from passengers, we expect a busy summer season with high passenger traffic to Turkey and Istanbul.
In January, there was a 63% increase in the number of passengers passing through Istanbul Airport compared to the previous year, with a total of 5.6 million passengers. In February, there was a 42% growth compared to the same period in the previous year, with a total of 5 million passengers served. In March, the number of passengers at Istanbul Airport increased by 32% compared to last year, with a total of 5.7 million passengers served.
